The Barbara Emerich 2019 Scholarship

Barbara Emerich held PTA leadership positions, from local schools to the state level, for more than 50 years.  Her commitment to children was unparalleled, particularly in the areas of juvenile justice, gun control, teenage health and special needs.

The Sixth District PTA proudly honors Barbara Emerich’s extraordinary service by awarding scholarships to two high school seniors who best exemplify her dedication to youth and families.

We are pleased to announce that the Barbara Emerich Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications from qualified 2019 graduating seniors.  Barbara Emerich, a PTA volunteer and leader for more than 50 years, dedicated her time and talents in support of children, particularly in the areas of juvenile justice, gun control, teen health and special needs.  Sixth District PTA created this scholarship to honor her exemplary service.

Two scholarships of $750.00 each are available to support students who are planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college.  Applicants must be current high school seniors, members of their high school PTA/PTSA, have a GPA of at least 2.5, and should have a strong record of community service/volunteering in education/counseling/mentoring/tutoring/preschool or with special needs children.

Applications should be emailed or postmarked no later than Friday, April 12, 2019.
Please mail the application form to Sixth District PTA, 1290 Ridder Park Drive, M/C 214, San Jose, CA 95131, or email to office@mail.capta6.org

Finalists may be contacted for a phone interview in April.  We will proudly announce the two recipients by letter and present them with certificates in May 2019.

Please review this scholarship application and forward it on to the appropriate counselor who may be aware of potential candidates.  Thank you for helping us to appreciate and support students who give back to our community.

If you have any questions, please write to office@mail.capta6.org.

Sincerely,
