ADVOCACY

P-5 6-8 9-12   FUNDING OUR SCHOOLS.
There are always two big issues in school funding:
EQUITY: is it fair to all children?
and ADEQUACY: is it enough?
California's new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF)is designed to make funding more equitable than it has ever been. [Click here] to learn more!
To learn about where California stands on adequate funding, visit our [Advocacy web site].

COMMUNITY

K-5 6-8 9-12   SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS.
Your school district has a Board of Trustees, elected by the voters to oversee the operation of the schools. The Board sets policy and hires the Superintendent of Schools, who is in charge of the day-to-day operations.
Does your PTA have a School Board Observer, who attends meetings, reports back to the PTA, and speaks on behalf of the PTA?
Most school boards meet (roughly) twice each month. For the meeting calendar, agendas, contact information, etc., for your school board, see your school district's web site. If you have difficulty finding this information, or if you have other questions, contact advocacy@capta6.org.

K-5 6-8 9-12   PTA GENERAL MEETINGS:
SIXTH DISTRICT and PTA COUNCILS
The PTA/PTSA at your child's school works on issues at the school level. Sixth District PTA works on behalf all the PTAs, and all the children, in Santa Clara County. Similarly, PTA Councils support the PTAs and the children in their areas. Come to your Sixth District PTA and PTA Council meetings -- learn what is happening and what PTA is doing for all our children! Join the conversation! These meetings are open to all PTA members.
